As the weather cools down, your skin really has to go through a lot when it comes to dry Winter winds, an always on heater and just general lack of effort when you are in the WFH cycle of track pants and filter coffee.
However a few changes to your routine can make a dramatic difference to your skin barrier and hydration levels throughout the day.
Here are some of our Winter golden rules to keep you glowing all lockdown long:
CLEANSERS THAT HYDRATE AND RENEW
Treat your cleansers as you do the rest of your skincare routine. Seasonally! Winter is for having an arsenal of hydrating cleansers that deeply cleanse the skin of all the layers of moisturiser and SPF you are slathering on as well as cleansers that will gently exfoliate dry/dead skin away to ensure they won't clog up those gorgeous pores of yours. Double cleansing is your best friend as always!
An essential first step to melt away SPF and makeup.
Every two-three days to keep your skin fresh and clear.
Your second step cleanser that hydrates and ensures that your skin is fully cleansed for the remainder of your routine.
A BIT OF ACID DIDN'T HURT ANYONE
A once a week nighttime treatment to break down dead skin skin, even out your skin tone and treat dull skin and pigmentation. Keep well away from your Vitamin C in the morning!
ADD AN ESSENCE
Your first step after cleansing to prep and prime your skin for the rest of your routine. You use a primer for your makeup so it's essential you have one as part of your skincare routine. A great essence also adds additional hydration - perfect for the Winter months!
TAKE YOUR VITAMINS
Don't forget to take your vitamins! Every, or every other morning that is. We say the morning, because the antioxidant helps to protect from things like pollution and UV light, which you’re typically exposed to throughout the day. This also means you can use your acids and exfoliants at night, without interference. Simply, Vitamin C is an antioxidant so it works to protect your skin cells from air pollution, sun damage, and other premature agers.
Our favourite vitamin is a safe and highly effective acid that will reduce dullness, uneven skin tone, texture and acne scarring, all while offsetting environmental aggressors. Keep using it and you will find yourself with brighter and glowier skin.
A NIGHT CAP
A product that works while you sleep! We love that. A good sleeping mask does wonders for those who want to wake up with the hydrated, glass skin of dreams. No more tight faces as you make your morning coffee.
MOISTURISERS THAT DO THE WORK
In Winter we are reaching for rich moisturisers that provide long lasting protection and pair perfectly with our favourite face oil. We are looking for deep hydration and all-day glow.
OIL ME UP
A face oil is what we do to seal in all the goodness we have just applied. Much like how if you add oil to water and it floats on top, the same happens with your skincare. An oil over the top of your moisturiser is really how you are going to achieve that perfect hydrated, Winter glow.
UV RAY'S DON'T HIBERNATE DURING WINTER
UV Rays don't hibernate during Winter and neither should your SPF. Ultra Violette is chic, hydrating and ultimately protecting.
SPF is the best anti-aging defense you can have in your beauty bag.
LIP BALMS ARE THE MVP OF WINTER
A good lip balm is like nothing else especially when you are battling the cold breezes and always on heaters of Winter. These are some of our faves that we have had deskside since May.
