SLEEP

Granbell Hotel The last time I went, I stayed at the Granbell Hotel. It was the most amazing location and also has a Ryokan underneath, which was a nice way to relax in the evening.

The area where the Granbell is is walking distance to all the cool shops and cafes. It’s also super convenient to get a bike and ride up to the Philosophers Path.

The Anteroom Hotel

The Anteroom Hotel is not in the most convenient location but it’s boutique accommodation with a gallery inside. The rooms have wooden bathtubs and it’s lush!

EAT

Kiln was one of the best meals of my life. Sorry non-meat eaters but the steak was 5/5 – served with a natural wine.

Komorebino – Cute little natural wine bar.

Clamp Coffee – Yummy breakfast plate and filter coffee.

Wife + Husband – This is a bit of a mission but sooo worth it. It’s a tiny little café run by a husband and wife and it’s filled with antiques you can buy. You can also rent a picnic set and sit on the river.

Nishiki Market – The big food market full of weird and wonderful things.

Awomb – So much fun! They bring you this stunning tray each and you make your own sushi. We drank sparkling saké too which was yum.

DO

Get the little old train to Arashiyama and walk through the Bamboo Forrest. The colours on this island don’t seem real.

Ride a bike up the Philosopher’s Path.

SHOP

As someone who LOVES things for the home, I would check out AntiqueBelle and Yahho Furniture

For streetwear go to Casio Club.

On the main street near the Daimaru shopping center you will find Visvim, Bape, Beams and all wonderful Japanese brands.

PACK

Bike riding attire. In Spring and summer and it can pretty humid.

A backpack for all your little homeware finds.
